The GE RFID Trap
GE RPWFE and XWFE systems use encrypted microchips on the filter label. If an aftermarket replacement lacks this active tag, your refrigerator will show a leak error and turn off water flow. Always check our RFID alert before buying.
Reset Procedures
Water filter indicator lights do not reset automatically on most models (except GE RFID). We catalog the exact button combinations to reset your red filter light in under 5 seconds.
NSF 42 vs 53 vs 401
NSF 42 only filters taste and odor (chlorine). NSF 53 removes health contaminants like lead and cysts. NSF 401 filters emerging compounds and pharmaceuticals. Always inspect the rating label.
